Living Mechanics BJJ – WOMEN ONLY

Self Defense for Women

  • 1 hour
  • The Welch Center

Service Description

BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS AGES 8+. (BJJ) revolves around the concept, taken from traditional Japanese jūjutsu, that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent by using leverage and weight distribution. In short, taking the fight to the ground and using a number of holds and submissions to defeat them. Sparring, commonly referred to as "rolling" within the BJJ community, and live drilling plays a major role in training and the practitioner's development. BJJ can also be used as a method of promoting physical fitness, building character, and as a way of life. Living Mechanics is Professor Alan Baker's unique approach to teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (ABBJJ). The Living Mechanics program came to fruition with the intention of teaching students a greater understanding of the body's natural mechanics and processes. Our program is led by Coach Wadi, a ABBJJ affiliate Purple Belt instructor. *REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Gi, Rash Guard & Mouthguard; No outdoor shoes or socks allowed on the training mat.
